State of the Stash

I published at the end of July that I was going “no buy” until I reached 100 yards used or until a year had passed….whichever was first.  So I have made some backings and started assembling some blocks that I had set back for Hospice and added borders.

Net usage for August:  21.50  Yards!*

*I did get a small gift of about 1/3 yard.
*And some projects are not finished yet, but the fabric is “committed”

But I definitely made some progress.  Here is one of the backings I made using blacks/charcoal grays:

Which I think compliments the scrappy top.  The top is not counted in my fabric usage.  I think I counted it last year, so…..not now.  Only counting what I’m SURE isn’t counted.

The good thing about this is that I also am finishing some of these tops.  The quilt above and the one from my previous post are done and bound.  Another quilt that I made last summer (picture on next post, I promise), I also made a backing for, quilted, and am working on the binding.

The bad part is, once I’ve completed these quilts, and my hospice quilts, that usage is going to slow down quite a bit….but we’ll see how creative I can get then!

De-Stashing, November 2014

I guess I really should name this report the stashing report.  Once again, I have gone backwards.  It was black Friday at TWO local quilt shops.  At least I am still in the de-stashing positve for year to date.

De-Stashing, October, 2014

007

This month has been singularly horrible as far as accumulation is concerned.  I bought about 6 yards to make a quilt top at retreat (right), but then was gifted some (to make some backs for upcoming charity quilts), and won some as a door prize.  I threw myself into making a bunch of quilt backings and as of now have almost used up all the excess stash that came in.

De-Stashing September, 2014

September was a lot about the quilt show again  😦
But I did make a baby quilt for the a coworker.  I might make it to 50 yards, but will have to use about 3. 5 yards per month!

De-Stashing August, 2014

In August, I was mostly preparing for our quilt show.  Quilt get turned in this week and the only “buying” I did was a 1/4 yard that I was given at the quilt show in Charlotte.  I did a binding as the only de-stashing.  Surely, I can make some progress in September!

De-Stashing: July 2014

Not much has gone on in July as I did a lot of work getting my son moved, getting his condo cleaned, painted, took a few days off and visited mom.  But what little I have is here:

De-Stashing: June 2014

The majority of June I have had “The Voices” on the frame, so that has limited the amount of stash usage I have had.  Most of my usage has been for a backing, binding the Hospice quilts (Have I uploaded pictures of them?  No….soon…they are on my other computer), and finishing the Twisted Kitties top and backing.  Not a big stash usage month, but still on pace to finish 2014 well in the De-Stashing department.  My only purchase was backing for “The Voice”.  I did decide to go for a solid backing after all.
